This paper presents the planning of purchase and supply of funds, and other inputs necessary to achieve the objectives of the project, processing products based on practices of public companies under the Law on Public Procurement, the process of acquiring, receiving and issuing goods, and how human resources (candidates) can be selected for initiation, planning, organizing, evaluation and successful realization of a project. To determine the most favourable tender in the bid process, the AHP method and Expert Choice program for decision support were used. This paper presents the alternatives and criteria based on which the final decision-making process for the procurement of funds for the project is carried out. The selection criteria do not only take into consideration extra services and delivery speed of resources that the company provides, but also the characteristics of the equipment for the project realization.

Gal-3 plays an important pro-inflammatory role in the induction phase of acute colitis by promoting activation of NLRP3 inflammasome and production of IL-β in macrophages

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Galectin-3 [Gal-3] is an endogenous lectin with a broad spectrum of immunoregulatory effects: it plays an important role in autoimmune/inflammatory and malignant diseases, but the precise role of Gal-3 in pathogenesis of ulcerative colitis is still unknown. METHODS: We used a model of dextran sulphate sodium [DSS]-induced acute colitis. The role of Gal-3 in pathogenesis of this disease was tested by evaluating disease development in Gal-3 deficient mice and administration of Gal-3 inhibitor. Disease was monitored by clinical, histological, histochemical, and immunophenotypic investigations. Adoptive transfer was used to detect cellular events in pathogenesis. RESULTS: Genetic deletion or pharmacological inhibition of Gal-3 significantly attenuate DSS-induced colitis. Gal-3 deletion suppresses production of pro-inflammatory cytokines in colonic macrophages and favours their alternative activation, as well as significantly reducing activation of NOD-like receptor family, pyrin domain containing 3 [NLRP3] inflammasome in macrophages. Peritoneal macrophages isolated from untreated Gal-3(-/-) mice and treated in vitro with bacterial lipopolysaccharide or DSS produce lower amounts of tumour necrosis factor alpha [TNF-α] and interleukin beta [IL-1β] when compared with wild type [WT] cells. Genetic deletion of Gal-3 did not directly affect total neutrophils, inflammatory dendritic cells [DCs] or natural killer [NK] T cells. However, the total number of CD11c+ CD80+ DCs which produce pro-inflammatory cytokines, as well as TNF-α and IL-1β producing CD45+ CD11c- Ly6G+ neutrophils were significantly lower in colons of Gal-3(-/-) DSS-treated mice. Adoptive transfer of WT macrophages significantly enhanced the severity of disease in Gal-3(-/-) mice. CONCLUSIONS: Gal-3 expression promotes acute DSS-induced colitis and plays an important pro-inflammatory role in the induction phase of colitis by promoting the activation of NLRP3 inflammasome and production of IL-1β in macrophages

The case study method in this paper shows the implementation of Information Technology (IT) and the Serial Shipping Container Code (SSCC) in a Croatian company that deals with logistics operations and provides logistics services in the cold chain segment. This company is aware of the sensitivity of the goods entrusted to them by the user of the service, as well as of the importance of speed and accuracy in providing logistics services. To that end, it has implemented and used the latest IT to ensure the highest standard of high-quality logistics services to its customers. Looking for efficiency and optimization of supply chain management, while maintaining a high level of quality of the products that are sold, today's users of outsourced logistics services are open to the implementation of new IT products that ultimately deliver savings. By analysing the positive results and the difficulties that arise when using this technology, we aim to provide an insight into the potential of this approach of the logistics service provider

The impact of the functional characteristics of a credit bureau on the level of indebtedness per capita: Evidence from East European countries

The institution of the credit bureau is one of the most important elements in controlling the indebtedness levels of a population. All credit bureaus have specific functional characteristics which are able to influence the development of indebtedness. This research aims to identify the most important characteristics of a credit bureau, to quantify those characteristics and to identify causal relationships between the characteristics of the credit bureau and trends in indebtedness per capita levels. The paper introduces the Credit Bureau Functional Index which presents a quantified value of the functional characteristics of the Credit Bureau. The paper establishes a correlation between this index and indebtedness per capita and finds the formula governing this relationship to be linear. The paper concludes that indebtedness levels can be targeted through a mix of characteristics of a credit bureau. Research on this theme is absent in academic literature to date.credit bureau, credit information, personal indebtedness, coverage ratio, functional characteristic

The Impact of Social Media Marketing on Brand Community Membership: A Higher Education Perspective of University Students’ Experiences in Kuwait

    No full text
Consumer identification with brands has received extensive attention in the fields of consumer behavior and psychology. Such consumer-brand identification is conceptualized through the term “brand community”. A brand community is formed when a group of consumers express their interest towards and communicate their identities through a specific brand. The current literature shows that existing research on brand communities appears to be dominantly oriented towards tangible products. Accordingly, this research aims to explore the impact of social media marketing on brand community membership related to an intangible aspect of the self. Contextually, the research seeks to examine the impact of social media marketing of higher education institutions in Kuwait on students’ relevant associations. Students are at the core of higher education institutions due to identifying as both consumers and creators of value. A mixed method approach to data collection and analysis will be employed in this research. The findings of this research are expected to provide important implications for theory and practice

Focal Myocarditis in Professonal Female Athlete: A Case Report

    No full text
A 35-year-old female athlete appealed to her sports physician on new onset of frequent palpitations, just before an important competition. Initial electrocardiography revealed unifocal premature ventricular complexes in the form of bigeminy. Echocardiography revealed fine-granulated hyperdensic changes in septum. Global strain rate was within a range normal, as well as pulsed tissue Doppler ultrasound. Patient was referred for cardiac MRI, which revealed interventricular septum with rougher compounds, but with preserved continuity, with thickness of 10 mm, which is in the middle of the LV, in length of 5 mm, thinned to a thickness of 4 mm. ELISA laboratory test demonstrated an increased titer of IgM antibodies for adenovirus. Six months later, the patient was referred for control MRI of the heart, which showed pronounced trabeculation of infero-lateral wall of the left ventricle, but without certain criteria for non-compaction cardiomyopathy. There was T1 oedema component in apical septal segment and apical segment of the left ventricle. There was increase of the signal in late gadolinium enhancement in the medial parts of the same segments but also in the segment of the basomedial septum, with previous focal myocarditis. These findings suggest myocardial fibrosis in the segments that were stricken by myocarditis, now without active ongoing myocarditis, but without consequent myocardial fibrosis
